The Tallow Factory is a converted Tudor candle factory with four bedrooms over three floors, sleeping 10 guests comfortably. The ground floor living room and first floor master bedroom are the original part of the building dating back to the 16th century and the additional three floors were added in the 20th century to create a uniquely spacious retreat overlooking an classical English enclosed garden. In the spring and summer you can enjoy the many outdoor activities in the area followed by dining al fresco on our patio or deck. In autumn and winter you can enjoy cosying up by the fire with a good book after a long ramble in the crisp fresh air. Christmas and New Year are our most popular times of year because the house is perfect for large families or groups of friends celebrating the holidays together. We always get a real tree and decorate the house with exterior lighting as well so that all you need to do is show up and enjoy the festive season. Catering recommendations, massage treatments and group or individual yoga sessions are also available upon request. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome for an additional pet supplement. Reserved off-street parking for two cars is also included in the rental price.
LIVING ROOM
Our expansive living room with original Tudor wooden beams in the ceiling and cosy fireplace is furnished to accommodate your group with plenty of seating, making a magical space to share celebrations throughout the year, including Christmas or New Year’s Eve. There is space for a large dining table which can be added in this room upon request.
Master Bedroom
Our magnificent Tudor master bedroom has a king-size bed and its own sitting room with dedicated workspace. Guests staying in this room have their own ensuite toilet with sink and the choice to use either the shower room on the same floor or the full bathroom, down one small flight of stairs.
Garden View Ensuite Bedroom
Our second bedroom features a full ensuite bathroom and a super-king size bed that can also be made into twin single beds with views of the well-maintained private garden and the Dedham Vale.
Rose Bedroom
Our third bedroom features a king-size bed that can also be made into twin singles, and is directly next to a shower room.
Top Floor Two-Room Suite
Our fourth bedroom is a two-room inter-connected suite on the top floor with a full double
and single bed in the inner room and twin single beds in the outer room. This makes a really fun space for children sharing as well as families. Guests in this room will use the shared full bathroom down two small flights of stairs on the ground floor.
Spacious Kitchen Overlooking Patio and Garden
The kitchen features a catering grade large convection fan oven with 5-ring gas stove, kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and comfortable seating with dining table for up to 10 people. The patio doors open on to a well-maintained private enclosed classical English garden.
